Special Collections
Special Collections preserves rare, valuable, and distinctive materials that support research, teaching, and discovery. The collection emphasizes Georgia, particularly South Georgia, and includes rare books; works by Georgia authors and Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ faculty; county histories and genealogy resources; and materials on the Civil War, Civil Rights, World War II, biography, local and regional history, and other subjects. Special Collections also holds bound copies of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ theses and dissertations; electronic theses and dissertations are .

Special Collections is located in the Archives and Special Collections area on the fourth floor of Odum Library, Room 4330.
Hours: Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m., subject to staff availability. Appointments may be available outside regular hours.

If you need materials outside regular hours, please contact us in advance. When appropriate, staff may arrange for materials to be available at the Circulation Desk in Odum Library’s New Addition.
Access and borrowing
Because many materials are rare or irreplaceable, some items may be used only in the library. Other materials may be available for the library’s standard 28-day lending period. Staff can help determine the access options for a specific item.
