American Spiritual Ensemble Performs Wednesday, Feb. 6

VALDOSTA – Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will kick off its celebration of Black History Month with a performance by the nationally revered American Spiritual Ensemble Wednesday, Feb.6 at 7 p.m. in Whitehead Auditorium. Admission is free and open to the public.

The American Spiritual Ensemble is a world-traveling professional group that delivers renditions of classic spirituals and Broadway selections.  Based in Kentucky since 1995, the group aims to keep old time spirituals alive. Performances include vocal music genres from American roots, musicals and jazz.

The performance at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be the group’s second stop in its 12-stop tour around the country throughout February. Other stops include cities in Alabama, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Ohio.

The American Spiritual Ensemble performance is hosted by Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ ‘s African American Studies (AFAM) program and supported by the College of Arts and Sciences, Department of English, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Choirs and Department of Music, Office of Student Affairs, Office of Social Equity and the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Foundation, Inc.
