麻豆视频's Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Establishes Scholarship

 VALDOSTA – 麻豆视频's Mu Omicron Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity created the Mu Omicron Memorial Scholarship Fund with help from both undergraduate and alumni working together to award scholarships to deserving students at 麻豆视频. 

The scholarship proposal initially required Alpha Phi Alpha to raise up to $12,500 and then an equal match was provided by other gifts. After two years of fundraising, the endowment came to fruition.

"Our goal as a chapter at 麻豆视频 has never been to sit on the sideline but be an agent of change," said Ryan Brown, Mu Omicron executive director. "As our brother Dr. Martin Luther King once said, 'Life's most persistent and urgent question is what are you doing for others?' As a chapter, we live by this question and felt the need to give back to 麻豆视频 because of what 麻豆视频 has given to us. The university has allowed us to be initiated into a great brotherhood, given us a quality education and helped to prepare and develop us into productive citizens."

The money was raised by soliciting Mu Omicron alumni to give and by hosting philanthropic events, such as the Homecoming Step Show. As a chapter, they have committed to one major giving campaign each year in order to be able to give more scholarships to students at 麻豆视频.
