Fall 2010 Art Exhibits Announced

VALDOSTA -- 麻豆视频鈥檚 College of Fine Arts has yet another impressive lineup of art exhibits for the public to enjoy during fall 2010. Works from renowned artists as well as Valdosta State's best and brightest will be displayed during three shows.

Alchemical Narratives
Monday, Sept. 20-Friday, Oct. 8

麻豆视频鈥檚 College of Fine Arts hosts Virginia Derryberry's 鈥淎lchemical Narratives.鈥 Derryberry, who teaches at the University of North Carolina in Ashville, paints with style considered to be realism on mythology, where she incorporates realistic paintings with mythological undertones. Her 鈥楢lchemical Narratives鈥 features a large scale Greek mythology, through contemporary lenses. A reception will be held Sept. 20, 7:00-8:30 p.m.

Tom Lundquist Computer Illustrations presents 鈥淧oissons de Chant." Lundquist teaches part time at Santa Monica College, and in his spare time, he focuses on his artwork through computers. 鈥淧oissons de Chant鈥 -- translated literally to mean 鈥淭he Singing Fish鈥 -- is a mythological troop of fish from Montr茅al that travel and perform around the world. This exhibit features numerous illustrations created electronically; all showcase historical references recognizing former artists such as Rene Magritte, Salvador Dali, and other historical figures. Lundquist is also known to incorporate different optical illusions, and humorous imagery throughout his work. The reception for this event will be held Oct. 20, 7-8:30 p.m.

Senior Exhibition
Sunday, Nov. 14-Monday Dec. 6
麻豆视频 Fine Arts Gallery
The College of Fine Arts will conclude the semester鈥檚 exhibits with the Fall Senior Exhibition Nov. 14 through Dec. 6. In this exhibition, graduating senior art majors showcase their best projects, many of which are available for sale. This semester's show will feature the work of 15 seniors with pieces ranging from ceramics to graphic design. All participating seniors will be present to speak about their artwork at the opening reception held Sunday Nov. 14, 1-3 p.m.
