Â鶹ÊÓƵ-TV Moves to Channel 20

VALDOSTA - Mediacom Cable subscribers should reset their Tivo’s on April 1 when Â鶹ÊÓƵ-TV skips down the dial from channel 11 to channel 20.

The repositioning will allow Â鶹ÊÓƵ-TV to maintain its television presence in more than 28,000 households in the Valdosta viewing area. It will also allow Mediacom to comply with an FCC must-carry mandate for a new network affiliate, which will assume the Channel 11 position.

“We are excited to maintain our relationship with Mediacom, which we’ve enjoyed for several decades,” said Professor Frank Barnas, the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Mass Media area head. “Mediacom was under FCC pressure to reposition our channel, but graciously kept our programming within reach of its cable subscribers.

Barnas added that the move keeps Â鶹ÊÓƵ-TV on the lower-tier of channels, which are the stations beneath Channel 26. Research shows these channels are the most-watched by cable viewers, so we’re very happy that Mediacom found a way to keep Â鶹ÊÓƵ-TV at the forefront of viewers’ choices.

Viewers will see no change in Â鶹ÊÓƵ-TV programming, as it will continue to provide non-commercial, educational programming to households in South Georgia. These shows include “More at Â鶹ÊÓƵ with President Patrick J. Scloss,” Blazer sports, the “Coach David Dean Show,” Â鶹ÊÓƵ-TV News, “Deutsche Welle,” “Classic Arts Showcase,” “Sundays at the Symphony” and LinkTV.

A programming calendar is available at Call Â鶹ÊÓƵ Mass Media at (229) 333-7399 for more information.
