Â鶹ÊÓƵ Dance Previews Choreography; Travels to Dance Festival

VALDOSTA - The Â鶹ÊÓƵ dance club will host a Preview Showing of Choreography at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, in Sawyer Theatre.

The event will provide guests with a glimpse into the world of Â鶹ÊÓƵ Dance, while also giving Â鶹ÊÓƵ dancers a chance to perform before leaving Saturday, March 7, for the American College Dance Festival hosted by Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro, Tenn.

At the festival, Catherine Schaeffer, associate professor of dance, will lead 17 students - the most to ever attend from Â鶹ÊÓƵ - in presenting two student works and one faculty work. Both Schaeffer and her students will have performances adjudicated by a panel of three individuals with distinct backgrounds in the professional world of dance.

For the seventh consecutive year, Â鶹ÊÓƵ students will have the opportunity to interact with more than 500 dancers from about 30 colleges and universities, enjoy concerts, and select from over 100 classes and panel/roundtable discussions. In following this year’s theme, “Exploring Diversity through Dance,” Schaeffer will offer a somatic movement class at the conference.

Call Schaeffer at (229) 333-5825 or e-mail her at caschaef@valdosta.edu for more information about the preview showing, the festival or Â鶹ÊÓƵ Dance.
