Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Kicks Off Ninth Annual African American Studies Lecture Series

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will host its ninth annual African-American Studies lecture series in the Biology/Chemistry auditorium beginning on Feb. 3, at 7 p.m. The theme is, ?Telling History: African American Men Ordering the Universe.?

The first lecture, ?The African American Male Telling It Like It Is,? will feature Dr. John Gaston, Dean of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ College of the Arts, performing ?The Brothers.?

The second lecture, ?African American Male Artists: Ordering the Universe,? will be on Feb. 10, at 7 p.m. The Gourd Master Sam X, a guest lecturer and other artists of international acclaim are scheduled to give presentations. Aaron Reed, one of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's artists, will also display his work.

The last feature of the lecture series will be on Feb. 27, at 7 p.m. A play entitled ?The Meeting? will be presented by Pin Point Theater. Written by Jeff Stetson, ?The Meeting? received a Louis B. Mayer Award, eight NAACP Theatre Awards, and six New York AUDELCO nominations. It has completed tours throughout the United States, Europe, and will now play at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ.
