Â鶹ÊÓƵ takes the stage at the Georgia Theatre Conference

Â鶹ÊÓƵ Theatre Department was in the limelight at the annual Georgia Theatre Conference (GTC) Nov. 4-6 in Columbus, Ga. Several of the faculty and students were recognized throughout the event.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ took 26 students to the GTC state screening auditions for the South Eastern Theatre Conference (SETC) to be held next spring. Of the students who auditioned, 13 students were chosen. Marc Herb, a Â鶹ÊÓƵ theatre major, was recognized and awarded $50 for having the highest score in Georgia. This conference marked the fourth consecutive year that a Â鶹ÊÓƵ student received this honor. Â鶹ÊÓƵ sends more students to SETC than any other school in Georgia.

Duke Guthrie, professor of Communication Arts, was elected GTC's vice president in charge of programming. He will be assembling next fall's conference, which will be held at Â鶹ÊÓƵ.

Jacqueline Wheeler, also a professor of Communication Arts, received the Leighton Ballew Career Achievement Award for Outstanding Service to Theatre in Georgia, the highest award presented by GTC.
