McKay named dean of Public Services Division

Dr. Cuba McKay, currently director of Valdosta State University's Public Services Division, has been named dean of the division

The title change recognizes McKay's efforts to enhance Â鶹ÊÓƵ's public services activities and brings the university's hierarchy more into line with that of larger state universities.

The duties of McKay, who has served as director of Public Services since 1987, will remain largely unchanged.

"I'm very appreciative of the title change," said McKay. "I think it is an indication of the importance of Public Services to the mission of Â鶹ÊÓƵ as a regional university."

"Dr. Cuba McKay has played a critical role in expanding the services of Â鶹ÊÓƵ throughout South Georgia," said Dr. Hugh C. Bailey, Â鶹ÊÓƵ president. "I am very pleased that we can recognize the importance of her area of operation and the ability and devotion she brings to her work."

Â鶹ÊÓƵ's Public Services Division is responsible for overseeing a number of educational opportunities, including continuing education, off-campus and distance learning courses and evening programs.

Public Services also supervises Â鶹ÊÓƵ's new satellite uplink center, which went online earlier this year and can bring course work and educational experiences to a world audience.

McKay has her master's degree in education from Georgia College, an education specialist degree from Valdosta State and her Ph.D. from Georgia State University.
